Dilfil contains Sildenafil Citrate, a selective phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitor used primarily for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED) and pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). By enhancing the effects of nitric oxide, Sildenafil promotes increased blood flow to specific areas of the body, especially the penile tissues, resulting in improved erectile response.
Therapeutic Class:
- PDE5 Inhibitor
- Erectile Dysfunction Agent
- Vasodilator for PAH (when used for that indication)
Indications:
- Erectile dysfunction (impotence) in adult males
- Pulmonary arterial hypertension (in lower doses or as per protocol)
Mechanism of Action:
Sildenafil inhibits the PDE5 enzyme, which degrades cyclic GMP in the corpus cavernosum. This results in enhanced vasodilation, increased blood flow, and improved erectile function when sexual stimulation occurs.
Dosage & Administration:
- For ED: 50 mg once daily, taken 30–60 minutes before sexual activity (dose may range from 25–100 mg based on response and tolerance).
- Not to exceed single dose in 24 hours.
Side Effects:
Common:
- Headache
- Flushing
- Nasal congestion
- Indigestion
- Visual disturbances (blurred vision, blue tinge)
Storage:
- Store in a cool, dry place below 28°C.
- Protect from light and moisture.
- Keep out of reach of children.
