RITODRINE HYDROCHLORIDE TABLET

Defender-10 contains Ritodrine Hydrochloride 10 mg, a selective β2-adrenergic agonist used primarily as a tocolytic agent to manage premature labor. It helps delay preterm delivery, allowing more time for fetal maturation or corticosteroid administration.

Indications:

• Management of threatened preterm labor
• Prevention of premature uterine contractions
• Delaying delivery to facilitate fetal lung maturity or maternal transfer

Mechanism of Action:

Ritodrine selectively stimulates beta-2 adrenergic receptors in uterine smooth muscle, causing relaxation of the uterus. This helps in inhibiting premature uterine contractions without significant cardiovascular effects at therapeutic doses.

Dosage & Administration:

• Defender-10 is generally administered 10 mg orally every 4 to 6 hours, or as directed by a physician.
• Dosage may be titrated based on uterine activity and maternal response.
• Should be used under close obstetric supervision.
